Coat-of-Arms
As Laird (Lord) or Lady of Lochaber, you’ll be entitled to use the specially designed insignia (above) similar to a simpler device carved into the threshold of Lochaber Lodge. This insignia is carried on your Land Title Deed and incorporates heraldic devices from the Lords of Lismore and Lorne as well as from the Estate’s Logo.
The chain around the tower represents the close alliance in arms between Lismore and Lorne and represents the bonds of friendship which unite all who proudly carry the title, Laird (Lord) or Lady of Lochaber.
The two lions rampant combatant have long been associated with the Lairds of Lochaber and were granted as heraldic charges during the 12th century, as indicators of particular courage which had been displayed by the then Laird of Lochaber in battle.
